NVIDIA Parabricks version 4.0 free for R&D
NVIDIA’s Clara Parabricks v4.0, presented during Nvidia’s GTC 2022, introduces a couple of groundbreaking updates that democratize access to accelerated genome sequencing analysis. The v4.0 release features expanded compatibility with workflow languages like WDL and NextFlow, enabling seamless integration with GPU-accelerated and third-party tools. Additionally, it supports the Cromwell workflow management system, making it easy to scale deployments across various environments, including cloud platforms. A key highlight is its integration with Terra, a SaaS platform developed by the Broad Institute, Microsoft, and Verily, which allows over 25,000 scientists to utilize Parabricks directly. The code for running these worflows on premise are now also available on the Parabricks Github page. Because of our extensive experience of working with Nextflow, we will look at this addition in a future blogpost.
New tools in Clara Parabricks v4.0 include the latest version of DeepVariant (v1.4), enhancing germline variant calling accuracy using deep learning. NVIDIA plans to continue expanding its capabilities with future updates focusing on sequencer-agnostic tools and deep learning enhancements. By offering free access and powerful new features, Clara Parabricks v4.0 sets a new standard for accelerating and democratizing genomic research.
But the most important change is the fact that Clara Parabricks is now freely available for academics, research and development. This eliminates previous technical and financial barriers, making advanced genomic analysis tools accessible to a broader audience. Researchers can deploy Clara Parabricks Docker containers on any NVIDIA-certified system, both on-premises and in the cloud, streamlining adoption and usability.
